ATTENTION: DMAIL AND DIXIE GOOGLE WORKSPACE FOR EDUCATION USERS

Important: Does NOT include @utahtech.edu or @dixie.edu email addresses or Google files in the Utah Tech Google Workspace for Education

Utah Tech University will retire the Dixie Google Workspace for Education, including all Dmail accounts, due to the University’s official name change. If you wish to retain any information from your Dixie Google account, you must transfer or download it. Current students and employees can transfer their data to the Utah Tech Google Workspace for Education, while former students and employees should download their data. Most employees have already completed this transfer.

IMPORTANT:

All data in the Dixie Google Workspace (Dmail, Drive, etc.) will be deleted on June 30, 2025.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE THE DEADLINE?

Follow the steps below to copy your data:

Current students and employees can transfer their Dixie Google files to Utah Tech Google Services: Transfer Google content to Utah Tech

Current students and employees can transfer Google files to OneDrive: Google Drive to OneDrive

Current students and employees can transfer Dixie Shared Drives to Utah Tech Shared Drives: Migrate Shared Drives

Former students and employees should download their data: Download your Google data with Google Takeout

WHY ARE WE RETIRING DMAIL AND THE DIXIE GOOGLE WORKSPACE FOR EDUCATION?

Due to the University’s name change, the Dixie Google Workspace and associated accounts will be retired.

WHY ARE GOOGLE ACCOUNTS NO LONGER PROVIDED TO FORMER STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES?

Google has changed its Terms of Service and no longer offers free unlimited storage for universities. Since most individuals already have personal Google accounts, the decision was made to discontinue providing University-affiliated accounts to former students and employees.

WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?

If you wish to keep any data, you need to move it. Current students and employees can transfer their Google data to their Utah Tech Google accounts. Former students and employees should download their data using this link: Download your Google data with Google Takeout

WHY WASN’T I NOTIFIED EARLIER ABOUT MOVING MY DATA?

We are sending periodic email reminders to all affected users as the retirement date approaches. The frequency of these emails will increase as the deadline nears. We want to ensure you have ample time to prepare for this transition. We started emailing 2023.
