How to Log in to XProtect Smart Client

This guide walks you through logging in to XProtect Smart Client after installing it from the Company Portal.

 

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Connect to the VPN
    • Before launching XProtect, ensure your computer is connected to the university's VPN (Global Protect).
    • If you're not connected to the VPN, you will not be able to reach the server.
  2. Launch XProtect Smart Client
    • Once XProtect is installed from the Company Portal, the XProtect Smart Client shortcut should appear on your Desktop.
    • Double-click the XProtect icon to open the program.
  3. Change the Computer Name in the Login window
    • In the Login window, you'll see a field labeled "Computer".
    • Delete the existing computer name in that field.
    • Replace it with dsu-mileman-01.sgc.local
    • Below are screenshots of the default configuration and the updated computer name for reference.
  4. Connect
    • Click the “Connect” button.
    • You should now be logged in and able to use XProtect Smart Client.
