Reflects Zoom's redesigned web portal (updated September 2026).

Zoom turns on two separate AI features by default: automatic meeting summaries, and My Notes (personal AI note-taking during a meeting). Turn off either or both below.

Turn Off Meeting Summaries

In Your Account Settings (Recommended)

This turns the feature off for all of your future meetings until you switch it back on.

  1. Go to https://utahtech-edu.zoom.us and sign in with your Utah Tech credentials.
  2. Click your initials in the top right corner, then select My Account.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click Settings.
  4. At the top of the Settings page, click the Zoom AI tab.
  5. Scroll down to the Meeting section and find Meeting Summary with AI.
  6. Toggle it off. If a confirmation prompt pops up, confirm the change.

Note: If the toggle is gray and can't be clicked, the setting is locked at the university level and can't be changed from your account. Contact the IT Helpdesk (help.utahtech.edu) if you need it unlocked.

For a Single Meeting

Use this if you generally want summaries but don't want one for a specific meeting.

  1. When scheduling the meeting, uncheck Automatically start AI Companion under meeting options.
  2. Or, once you're in the meeting, click the AI Companion icon in the toolbar and turn off Meeting Summary for that session.

Turn Off My Notes

My Notes is a separate AI feature that takes personal notes for you during a meeting.

In Your Account Settings (Recommended)

  1. Go to https://utahtech-edu.zoom.us and sign in with your Utah Tech credentials.
  2. Click your initials in the top right corner, then select My Account.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click Settings.
  4. At the top of the Settings page, click the Notes tab.
  5. Under General, toggle off Enable My Notes.
  6. Confirm in the pop-up if you're prompted.

Note: If the toggle is gray and can't be clicked, the setting is locked at the university level and can't be changed from your account. Contact the IT Helpdesk (help.utahtech.edu) if you need it unlocked.

For a Single Meeting

  1. Click the pencil icon in the top right corner of the meeting window and stop My Notes for that session.
