For certain IT support requests involving personal information (e.g., password resets, multi-factor authentication changes, international support), identity verification in person or via video call is required.
Why In Person or Video Call Verification?
For security reasons, identity verification cannot be conducted over standard phone calls or email. Support staff must clearly see your face and photo ID.
In Person Identity Verification
If you are on campus, you can come to the IT Help Desk on the 2nd Floor of Holland Centennial Commons during library hours with your Utah Tech ID Card or a government-issued photo ID to verify your identity.
Steps to Join a Video Call
- Contact the IT Help Desk: Call 435-879-4357 to initiate support.
- Receive Instructions: The support staff will guide you to join a Zoom meeting and provide any necessary passcodes.
What You Need for the Video Call
- Photo ID: Utah Tech ID Card or a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, etc.)
- Device: A computer with a working webcam or a phone with the Zoom mobile app (no login required).
- Internet: A stable internet connection to support video.
- Lighting: Ensure proper lighting so the agent can clearly see your face for verification.
Make sure to have these items ready before calling the Help Desk to ensure a smooth verification process.
